Happy FRIDAY, kids! Today's tip is short,
but something I think may be very helpful. I know I'M going to put it to use!

To prevent rust on your tools, place chalk, charcoal or a few mothballs in your toolbox
to attract the moisture.

And here's a little bonus tip:

To quickly sharpen a dull shear, cut through a folded piece of fine sandpaper
(rough side out) a few times.

Another helpful hit in keeping the rust off of your tools is

Spoiler
To use them more often!

Now where did I put my tool box?

Tool care is certainly important to me. Save silica- gel packets out of electronics items or other packaging. Depending on how much moisture absorbing ability they have left are great. Throw them in your tool boxes. I didn't know mothballs would absorb moisture. Thanks Pam!!

Good tips. I'm so negligent with caring for my tools properly. I really need to work on that.

Lots of tools also benefit from a light coat of machine oil. 3 in 1 is a good one to use. Things like hand saws, squares, shears, etc will last longer and rust less with a coat of oil applied after use.

I'm going to find my stash and put some of those goodies in my tool boxes. What a great tip PJ8!

I was going to say men only care about one tool, but changed my mind.

Great tips, Pam!
