They're also saying that one of Bin Laden's sons was also killed in the military operation.
Besides the September 11th, 2001 attacks, we also have to remember all the other attacks on US targets that happened while Bin Laden was the leader of Al Qaeda, the February 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the US Embassy bombings in August of 1998, and let's not forget the attack on the USS Cole in October of 2000 while it was harbored at a port in Yemen.
Don't forget the Pentagon and the plane full that crashed in Pennsylvania. I still have this gut feeling TWA 800 was a terrorist plot.
From Soldiers Angels: If you are a family member or "Angel" of someone in Afghanistan, and you are in touch via e-mail/IM/Skype please be prepared for intermittent contact for the immediate future. Internet access is shut down when there are security concerns. There may be an attempt to respond to this development, and our military will take whatever steps are necessary to protect our troops
My son is out there and as of early this morning, which is night time for that part of the world, he was online briefly. We need to be careful worldwide as to what we say or post anywhere over open airwaves.

His DNA was taken from his sister who died of cancer here in the States. Her brain was preserved for this very purpose. According to ABC News, it was confirmed that the DNA matched and that it was Bin Laden who died and was buried at sea.

When I made a reference to the September 11th, 2001 attacks, I meant all of them, not just the 2 that destroyed The World Trade Center and killed about 2,800 innocent civilians.
I have very mixed feelings about this. Of course it gives some closure, but the victory is shallow. Bin Laden was in renal failure for years. A dying man with a cause is more powerful after death than before. He likely anticipated his own demise, did on his on terms knowing it is better for him to die the glorious death of a martyr and fuel the holy war than to die of natural causes as a feeble sick old man. I guess my concern is that this may escalate terrorism. One thing history has taught us is a fool with a cause is dangerous. I mean Bush had an ax to grind... and American blood is still being spilled till today. Well these middle east extremist yet have an ax to grind too. And Americans would do well to remember this while dancing the victory dance and patting each other on the back God Bless America and our troops!
Hi Sun Queen, without igniting any debates about the "Axe Bush had to grind", we have to remember that after years of attacks on US targets throughout the world, which culminated with the September 11th, 2001 attacks, going after Al Qaeda and Bin Laden was not an easy operation, they are not like your average armed forces we faced in past conflicts, and in the last 9 and a half years, the foundation of Al Qaeda has been weakened significantly, and hopefully the demise of Bin Laden will weaken it even more. Had our military not gone after Al Qaeda, God only knows what other terror attacks could have occurred.
