I told my wife that is why she had sinus problems and I didn't. She was a spice wimp. I am of the opinion that if you don't sweat when eating chili it needs more habanero sauce.
You sound like my dad and my brother. I don't enjoy foods that are too spicy-hot. I like some kick to it, but not so much fire that I taste only the fire and not the FOOD! If I had bad allergies, though, I'm sure I'd try anything and everything that might naturally lessen the symptoms.
Dave, besides Hot Mexican Food, it's always good to have a Hot Mexican Seniorita with it.
