Good Monday morning, all, and welcome to the start of another week! I hope that all our QOTD friends came through the weekend storms without damage or injury; it was pretty wild for a while there on Saturday. Be safe this week, and if the tornado sirens go off, seek shelter. Your friends care about you!

And because I care about you, let’s start this week with our usual Monday tradition of considering:

Today’s Question(s):

About how many postage stamps do you keep on hand?

How many postage stamps do you use in a month?

Do you snail-mail birthday cards and anniversary greetings, or do you send email or electronic greeting cards?

Bonus Question:

Do you know anyone you’d describe as the jealous type?

How do they show their jealousy?

Ok, ‘fess up time – have you ever been jealous?

Tell us about it!

Extra Credit Question:

What is the most unusual thing you’ve known someone to do at an advanced age?

What unusual thing would you like to do in your old age?

Just for Fun:

In honor of “Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,” do you go to bed wearing:
Pajamas?
Nightgown?
Underwear?
Same clothes you wore all day?
Other???

If you “had” to wear your pajamas to work, do you have a set that you could wear in public?

Today in History:
1178 BC – The calculated date of the Greek king Odysseus’ return home from the Trojan Wars
1582 – Spanish conquistador Hernando de Lerma founds the settlement of Salta, Argentina
1705 – Isaac Newton is knighted by Queen Anne, during a royal visit to Trinity College, Cambridge
1818 – The United States Senate ratifies the Rush-Bagot Treaty, establishing the border with Canada
1900 – The US Post Office issues the first books of postage stamps
1908 – Natural Bridges National Monument is established in Utah
1912 – Harriet Quimby becomes the first woman to fly an airplane across the English Channel
1922 – Sharpshooter Annie Oakley, age 62, sets a record by breaking 100 clay targets in a row
1941 – Bob Feller of the Cleveland Indians throws the only Opening Day no-hitter in the history of Major League Baseball, defeating the Chicago White Sox 1-0
1947 – The Texas City Disaster: an explosion on board a freighter in port causes the city of Texas City, Texas to catch fire, killing nearly 600 people
1962 – Walter Cronkite takes over as lead news anchor of the CBS Evening News
1972 – Apollo 16, the tenth manned mission of the Apollo Space Program and the fifth to land on the moon, is launched
2007 – The Virginia Tech Massacre: in the deadliest shooting spree in modern American history, Seung-Hui Cho kills 32 people and injures 23 before committing suicide

Today’s Question(s):
About how many postage stamps do you keep on hand?
We probably have one and a half of those folding stamp books that come with 20 in them. It's not really a question of keeping them on hand, as that's what's left over. A few months ago I gave a book of stamps to someone, in part because I knew he would use them and it might take years for us to use them.

How many postage stamps do you use in a month?
Almost none anymore, almost everything is done online. Must be a lot of people doing likewise, because the postal service is shrinking.

Do you snail-mail birthday cards and anniversary greetings, or do you send email or electronic greeting cards?
Cards are about the only thing we snail mail, though not always, some e-cards, too.

Bonus Question:
Do you know anyone you’d describe as the jealous type? Not any more than usual.
How do they show their jealousy? In front of others, maybe a look.
Ok, ‘fess up time – have you ever been jealous? Everyone is jealous at some time. I don't have any drama to report.

Extra Credit Question:
What is the most unusual thing you’ve known someone to do at an advanced age?
Not anyone personally. Didn't George HW Bush parachute on his 75th birthday?
What unusual thing would you like to do in your old age?
Live to be 100

Just for Fun:
In honor of “Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,” do you go to bed wearing:
Underwear

If you “had” to wear your pajamas to work, do you have a set that you could wear in public?
Maybe I should wear clothes in public.

Today Is:
National Eggs Benedict Day

Today’s Question(s):

About how many postage stamps do you keep on hand?
Three - I bought four several weeks ago and have only used one.

How many postage stamps do you use in a month?
Less than one a month - maybe two or three a year.

Do you snail-mail birthday cards and anniversary greetings, or do you send email or electronic greeting cards?
I mainly email or telephone for people's birthdays and anniversaries.

Bonus Question:

Do you know anyone you’d describe as the jealous type?
I honestly don't think I know many jealous people.

How do they show their jealousy?

Ok, ‘fess up time – have you ever been jealous?
Sometimes, in respect of relationships, when I was younger.
Tell us about it!
It was more connected with insecurity (within the relationship) than jealousy itself. If that makes any sense.

Extra Credit Question:

What is the most unusual thing you’ve known someone to do at an advanced age?
I had a friend who was 94 years old - I went rowing with him (and my bf at the time) on Sydney harbour, in a tiny little row boat. It was the old guy's idea - he wanted to check his old boat was still sea worthy! When my bf was building his new house, this old guy was keen to inspect its progress and was as agile as a goat climbing builders' ladders and side stepping piles of construction material. He'd invite us over for dinner and would put on four-course meals which were always delicious and cooked from scratch. He was amazing and I miss him a lot.

What unusual thing would you like to do in your old age?
If I could be one-tenth as active and interesting as my old friend, I'd be happy.

Just for Fun:

In honor of “Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day,” do you go to bed wearing:
Pajamas?
Nightgown?
Underwear?
Same clothes you wore all day?
Other???
I just bought several pairs of light sweatpants, and some T-shirts to use as winter jammies.

If you “had” to wear your pajamas to work, do you have a set that you could wear in public?
I could wear my new winter jammies since they're essentially street clothes if I was just running up to the store. I used to sometimes wear jammies (proper ones) to work - but I worked from home.

Thanks Bookworm.

Have a great week!

I keep maybe 10 stamps on hand but it takes me forever to use them.
Depending on how hot/cold it might be, that determines what I wear to bed.
Day of the mushroom, I'll have to use up the ones we bought last week.
Happy Monday everyone!
