It took a long time for me to stop thinking, "Oh, that's a great joke! I've got to tell this to P__." But he was gone. Sometimes, I would start to write a note to him, going so far as to get the pen or get the paper, then I'd realize....

Often, rearing our children alone, I SO desired a second opinion.

One day, for no known reason, I smelled his fragrance in one specific place in the livingroom all day. The next, it was gone.

Grief can be interesting.

May I say a heartfelt thank you to all of the posts of condolence that you were kind enough to put here. They were much appreciated.

Terminal illness is an awful thing, though knowing that someone has it does give those involved time to prepare for the inevitable, something that a sudden death does not provide.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Jezer ... It is difficult to lose someone before their time ....

I've loss my mom at age 62 (I was only 22)
Sister at age 37
Brother at age 40
Aunt at age 60

Our condolences, Jezer. Loss is never easy.

And I agree about sudden loss. Both of my parents were sudden and unexpected, a year apart. A very difficult time.
