I confess that I have been stopped repeatedly by law enforcement, but I'm not sure why. The reason was clear in only one instance. Something about my tag light being out and no citation given. I was stopped by the same officer about a week later, in just about the same location. I handed him my DL and he asked, "Didn't I stop you last week for speeding through here?" I told him, "No, it was for a tag light being out. I fixed it." He handed my DL back to me and told me to have a nice day.
I have been stopped on a dozen other occasions, by different officers, different locations, for no apparent reason.
While I can't claim that I am always in a late model vehicle, whatever I drive is always in good repair, no dents or scratches or other visible flaws and I don't have a lead foot. The posted speed limit is just fine with me no matter where or what it is.
Typical of the exchanges are:
Q - Do you know why I stopped you?
A - No.
(looks at DL, proof of insurance, registration)
Q - Where you headed
A - Home (or work)
Q - Where you coming from?
A - Work (or home)
Q - Where do you work?
A - (tell where I work)
Q - What do you do there?
A - (tell him my job title)
Q - Hmm, OK. Well, everything looks in order, have a nice day
These stops did not occur in rapid succession but were spread out over several years. The conversation was always the same, shooting the breeze kind of stuff. In all of them, mine was the only car on the road, literally. And it wasn't always the same road.
I believe on one occasion, I asked why he pulled me over and was given this reply: "Well, it's late, you're the only motorist on the road and I thought you might be drunk." And yet, he didn't ask that I take a field sobriety test or even asdk if I had been drinking. I don't drink, by the way.
I am convinced that officers run tags before they pull a car over and those that come back to a woman's name - and only a woman's name - are targeted by single officers hoping to pick up a date. I'm absolutely convinced of it.
I'd be interested in hearing another viable explanation for it. I no longer live in FL and only now feel confident in asking, "Why?"
It depends on what kind of car you drive, seriously. Years ago I had a really nice car and I got pulled over alot for stupid things. Maybe they thought I was a gangster or something, who knows? Now I drive a much cheaper smaller car and I can speed like crazy and they don't care. Thats my theory anyways. I don't mind them pulling me over in the middle of the night near my neighborhood though, at least I know they are looking out for suspicious people.
But she also said she was stopped at night sometimes. How could the officer see that she was pretty, or even a women, at night until after the stop had been made?

Most cops if they pulled over every person they probably should would do nothing all day. They don't need to invent offenses. I have been pulled over due to profiling but it's understandable and you may have some problem that makes you stand out.
I don't think I have ever been pulled over like that. I have to be honest and say I have always deserved it, I have in the past been very likely to drive over the speed limit.
There was one occasion where I got pulled over, I was indeed speeding but the cop was also definetly flirting with me and on the brink of asking me out. He even got me to get out of my car to speak with him. It didn't help that I was wearing a pair of my boyfriends satin boxer shorts and a skimpy t-shirt at the time. I was actually going to see him for lunch and wanted to surprise him.
Do they ask you out? I would think if it was the same officer over and over he just was interested in you but being it's not they are just checking, a lot of people are up to no good at night. i used to get off at midnight and I got pulled over from time to time for what appeared to be no reason.
Start asking for their badge number and let them see you write down. If you are asked why tell them you get pulled over a lot and there never seems to be a reason and you are just being cautious.
Keep a log of time, date, badge number, and reason for the stop. You might need it someday.
Not being one who is shy about P.I. are you black or Latino?
