I am mildly hearing impaired and have tinnitus. Sometimes have trouble understanding speech, especially if the speaker has a non-American accent. So I use closed captions a lot for watching movies. I also have wireless TV headphones so I can hear more clearly without turning up the sound. When I'm out in public I wear hearing aids most of the time, but I rarely use them at home. I just say "What?" a lot. Extra Credit:

I thought I would dislike going Dutch when Mr. Bay and I were dating (our incomes were about equal, but he had more financial obligations than I did.). After I got used to it, I realized sharing expenses has a lot of advantages for a woman. For one thing, I didn't have to feel guilty if I wanted to order something expensive on a menu. Also, we were able to take some nice trips together because we were pooling our resources. It was a liberating experience.
If I were dating again, I would insist on paying my own way, or at the very least offer to do so. That way, I wouldn't feel obligated if things didn't work out.
Can you think of something you expected to enjoy, but it turned out that you disliked a lot ? I thought I would like sushi, but I never developed a taste for it.
Bonus:
If you have a battery charger, does it indicate when your batteries are fully charged ?
Does it take more than one size/type of battery ? Mr. Bay and I have an auto battery charger and also two different chargers for two different types of AA batteries. They all indicate when the batteries are fully charged. He has a charger for his razor.
Just for Fun:
If you like french fries, do you prefer them thick or thin, straight, crinkle-cut, curly, or some other shape ?
I prefer the shoestring type, but I also enjoy all the others. I never met a potato I didn't like!
Have you ever eaten “potato stix” (shoestring cut dried potatoes) ? I haven't eaten potato stix in ages, but I remember that I used to enjoy them.

Thanks, cloven, and thanks for the pretty labyrinth! I haven't solved one yet, but they're nice to look at.
Today’s Question:
Have you used (or do you use) assistive technology such as
braille, closed-captioning, text-to-speech (or vice-versa) software, descriptive narration (for visual media), reading transcripts, or other ?
Closed caption on the TV sometimes, but not due to hearing loss.
Extra Credit:
Can you think of something you didn’t expect to enjoy, but that you ended up liking a lot ? Many years ago had a co-worker I didn't like at first, but became good friends.
Can you think of something you expected to enjoy, but it turned out that you disliked a lot ? Also years ago traveling with someone who turned out to be a pain.
Bonus:
If you have a battery charger, does it indicate when your batteries are fully charged ? Depends on the charger. Electric razor, no. Camera battery, yes.
Does it take more than one size/type of battery ? Don't have a generic charger, only ones specific to a particular item.
Just for Fun:
If you like french fries, do you prefer them thick or thin, straight, crinkle-cut, curly, or some other shape ?
Curly has come to mean spicy, it seems. That's okay sometimes, but generally prefer regular, crinkle cut fries.
Have you ever eaten “potato stix” (shoestring cut dried potatoes) ? Yep.

braille, closed-captioning, text-to-speech (or vice-versa) software, descriptive narration (for visual media), reading transcripts, or other ? I've used the closed-captioning feature in a few DVDs I've rented, only because that's how they were set up, not due to any hearing difficulties.
