Happy Monday February 8, everybody-and welcome to QOTD.

Today’s Question:
What do you use to store & dispense bulk dry ingredients such as sugar, spices, salt, flour, etc
-original store packaging ?
-or home container ?
Do you add a humidity-stabilizer (such as rice grains, a brown sugar bear, or humidor button)
to keep these items from either taking on moisture and caking/hardening-or drying out too much ?

Extra Credit:
Have you lived somewhere that had
-a cistern ?
-rain gutters ?
-a cupola, crow’s nest, or gazebo ?
-bulkhead (hatchway) doors ?

Bonus:
Have you ever owned (and/or built) a greenhouse ?
Visited one ?

Just for Fun:
In the summer, are there any gardens/yards in your neighborhood
that you admire, appreciate the work that went into it, and look forward to seeing each year ?

A/C & heating systems take care of this for us.

Extra Credit:
Have you lived somewhere that had
-a cistern ? No but have seen them on back porches of old homes and country stores.
-a cupola, crow’s nest, or gazebo ? Just a gazebo

Good morning cloven and all.

Today’s Question:
What do you use to store & dispense bulk dry ingredients such as sugar, spices, salt, flour, etc
-original store packaging ? Generally this. Storage here isn't too big a deal. Houston was a bit different. Even though the house had A?C there were humidity and bug issues.
-or home container ? Got a few if needed.
Do you add a humidity-stabilizer (such as rice grains, a brown sugar bear, or humidor button)
to keep these items from either taking on moisture and caking/hardening-or drying out too much ? Generally not.

Extra Credit:
Have you lived somewhere that had
-a cistern ? If I understand you correctly, then yes.
-rain gutters ? They're pretty much universal over here.
-a cupola, crow’s nest, or gazebo ? Not here, but the old Victorian house we lived in had a couple of lovely gazebos.
-bulkhead (hatchway) doors ?

Bonus:
Have you ever owned (and/or built) a greenhouse ?
Visited one ? I've been in many, including what was, and maybe still is, the biggest one in the World at Kew Gardens near London;

Just for Fun:

The ones at work are lovely and I always look forward to seeing them.

Thanks cloven.

Today’s Question:
What do you use to store & dispense bulk dry ingredients such as sugar, spices, salt, flour, etc
-original store packaging ?
- Usually this.

-or home container ? - Sometimes a large freezer bag.

Do you add a humidity-stabilizer (such as rice grains, a brown sugar bear, or humidor button)
to keep these items from either taking on moisture and caking/hardening-or drying out too much ?
- Nope.

Extra Credit:
Have you lived somewhere that had
-a cistern ?
-rain gutters ?
-a cupola, crow’s nest, or gazebo ?
-bulkhead (hatchway) doors ?
- I remember the rain gutters in the house I grew up in. One of the apartment developments I lived in had a gazebo.

Bonus:
Have you ever owned (and/or built) a greenhouse ?
Visited one ?
- I visited one last year, maybe for the first time. It was enjoyable.
Only about 3 miles from where I live:
Behnke Nurseries - Landscape Plants and Garden Center

Just for Fun:
In the summer, are there any gardens/yards in your neighborhood
that you admire, appreciate the work that went into it, and look forward to seeing each year ?
- None at all. I've lived in cities my entire life. Often feel cheated by doing so...

There are several apartment developments within about a half mile from where I am now. At least is is a safe area and quiet.

Thanks, cloven.
Happy Monday to all!

Today’s Question:
What do you use to store & dispense bulk dry ingredients such as sugar, spices, salt, flour, etc
-original store packaging..... I usually buy flour in smallish amounts. Sugar comes in a plastic container, spices in bottles or is bought in small amounts from the co-op. In the summer I use fresh herbs from the garden.
-or home container ?
Do you add a humidity-stabilizer (such as rice grains, a brown sugar bear, or humidor button)
to keep these items from either taking on moisture and caking/hardening-or drying out too much ? Don't

Extra Credit:
Have you lived somewhere that had
-a cistern ?
-rain gutters ?
-a cupola, crow’s nest, or gazebo ? None that you mention. We do have an arbor at the farm.
-bulkhead (hatchway) doors ? Have

Bonus:
Have you ever owned (and/or built) a greenhouse ? Have never built or owned one, though I'd like to.
Visited one ? At many nurseries in our area.

Just for Fun:
In the summer, are there any gardens/yards in your neighborhood
that you admire, appreciate the work that went into it, and look forward to seeing each year ? The gardens at Saint Gaudens and last fall I discovered a place not far from there where you can pick flowers, paying by leaving $ in a jar.
