Hello, everybody, I'm your Jezer substitute for the next two weeks as he is off on another travel adventure. I don't know about you, but I will miss his wonderful photos.
The other day I picked up a magazine and flipped through the pages. A couple of loose cards from inside the magazine fell on the floor, and this was the inspiration for this week's peeve. Why does every single magazine in the world have those annoying cards in them that serve no purpose whatsoever except to create more litter? Does anyone actually use these cards for anything? I know I've never used one. (Some of them are attached to the binding, but all that does is make it more annoying when you try to flip through the pages.)
My brief time in the advertising industry taught me that these loose cards are called BICs (blow in cards) because they are inserted into the magazine using a blower. I really despise these things. First world problem, I know, but that's my peeve of the week: BICs!
Oh how I dislike those BIC when they come in magazines….. It makes me want to “avoid” buying the products that are advertised or renew the subscription. It’s a waste of paper time and money putting them in there. The last time I was at the book store a few weeks ago there were dozens of them on the floor at the periodical shelves for someone to cleanup.
I only read magazines at the doctors office. When the cards fall out I lay them on the table.
Thanx for filling in Bay. Where are the pictures of the San Francisco Bay area. Wasn't that a requirement?

BICs? Hmm... The only BICs I've ever had were those pens I bought from the store... but I've never seen them inserted in magazines...
On a serious note, I've always torn them out and threw them away, and I had to be careful to avoid tearing out any pages from the magazine.
I don't think they include those in the one... Uhmm.. certain catalogs I get once in a while.... Calm down Wit-nit, I'm talking about.. The Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop Catalogs...
Then there are the magazine inserts with cologne or other smelly substances on them. *cough-cough*
