The pipes, the pipes are calling from glen to glen and down the mountainside. Causing some to call the plumber. Let's talk about it in . . .

Today's Question(s):
Inspired by a post by High Plains Retired and shamelessly lifted.

Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather?

Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter?

Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason?

Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments?

-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never?

-Jalapenos ever or other peppers?

Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails?

As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you?

Let's all have a Thursday!

Today's Question(s):
Inspired by a post by High Plains Retired and shamelessly lifted.

Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather? Nope. We live in a 110+ year old house where the water lines come up through the basement, right by the boiler for the radiator heaters, and all the pipes were run up inside walls

Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter? I have in other homes

Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason? Nope

Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments? Ketchup, bread and butter pickles, and sometimes a potato chip or two

-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never? Most of the time

-Jalapenos ever or other peppers? Nope

Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails? When they look like they need it

As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you? Nope

I'm usually in bed by this time but I just got up for a bowl of shredded wheat and checked in and saw BJH's follow up on my complaint about north facing kitchen plumbing so I thought I'd go ahead and get a head start on tomorrow's QOTD.

The pipes, the pipes are calling from glen to glen and down the mountainside. Causing some to call the plumber. Let's talk about it in . . .

Today's Question(s):
Inspired by a post by High Plains Retired and shamelessly lifted.

Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather?
Only my pump house has a south facing door to protect the aboveground pipes to and from the pressure tank. The pipes then go under ground at the required 36" depth until they get to the house where they enter the house under the north facing wall under the kitchen.

Without fail, EVERYTIME we get a cold north wind with the air temps in the low teens, the pipes freeze under the kitchen floor.

Then too, the spade foot toads who continuously dig under the stucco wall at the kitchen and keep an entry point for the wind to blow under the house don't help. Every winter, I forget to check the wall until I wake up to no water.

Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter?
Yes I did during this last Arctic blast. As well I kept a small space heater under the sink at night. It was brutal but, after hearing about all the other horror tales in Texas, I feel I came out unscathed.

Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason?
I was told that this farm house and barns had been abandoned for three years when I bought it. The house was a plumber's nightmare with broken pipes inside the pumphouse, a pressure tank that shot water thirty feet into the yard when the pump was turned on and several freeze broken pipes in the house.

When I called the local plumber, the first thing he asked me after he realized he did not know me, was what house I was talking about. After that I was never again able to reach him and, except for the pressure tank replacement for which I was able to find an out-of-work kid in another town to do most of the work for me, I did all the other plumbing repair work myself.

Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments?
Mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickle relish and cheese please.
-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never?
Always, if I happen to remember.
-Jalapenos ever or other peppers?
Oh yes. I'll take several slices of green Hatch, NM jalapeños as well.

Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails?
My fingernails rarely grow out. I've been told it's from my use of formaldehyde while in school? Who knows?

I have a angle grinder for my toenails.

As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you?
The local auto repair shop would have to be my only choice, if we had one.

Let's all have a Thursday! Rate this post positively
You too BJH and thanks for the diversion while I ate my shredded wheat.

Goodnight all.

Apartment living, no plumbing issues except a couple of minor leaks in the past.
Never did the drip-drip thing.

No to bacon, cold cuts, or burgers. Unless the burger is black bean or other non-soy vegetarian I won't be interested.

I get semi regular manicures and pedicures. No, not turning in my man card. I have been told that multiple times by strangers on message boards..
Grooming is important to me. I do it for myself.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather?
I don't think so, but the weather here doesn't get cold enough to affect the pipes.
Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter?
No, it's not necessary.
Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason?
Yes, when I had a car accident and plowed into the garage, hitting the cement sink, the washer and the dryer. The force of the impact bent the pipes and caused a leak.
Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments?
Depends on the sandwich, but I like all of the above.
-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never?
Sometimes.
-Jalapenos ever or other peppers?
I'll pass. When it comes to spicy food, I'm a real weenie.
Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails?
Fingernails at least once a week; toenails about once a month.
As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you?
I have visited a manicurist in the past, but not for many years.

Thanks, bjh!

Today's Question(s):
Inspired by a post by High Plains Retired and shamelessly lifted.

Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather? There are a couple of pipes which are about 2' from the north wall in my basement.

Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter? Only if the temp gets below zero.

Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason? I had a pipe break one time, but it wasn't because it was frozen. My house and its pipes are very old (106), and about 20 years ago one water pipe simply rusted through. I fear it will happen again, but I don't have the kind of money it would take to have all the pipes replaced with new ones.

Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments? Mustard, Dijon, mayo. All yummy.

-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never? Yes, yes, yes!

-Jalapenos ever or other peppers? Pickled jalapenos because they are not too spicy Otherwise, no.

Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails? I never paid attention. Just whenever they need it.

As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you? No.

Let's all have a Thursday! Thanks a whole bunch, bjh! Happy Thursday, everyone.

Today's Question(s):
Inspired by a post by High Plains Retired and shamelessly lifted.

Do you have any plumbing in your home in a north facing wall, therefore more easily affected by cold weather? No, all our copper plumbing is encased in the cement slab that holds the rest of the house up.

Do/did you keep taps dripping in winter? No, it's been around 80F lately and rarely gets under 40F anymore at our abode.

Ever had a pipe break or leak for any reason? Faucet leaks in the past and had to replace the O rings.

Foodie Question(s):
Sandwich or burger continued:

-Mustard, mayo, ketchup, any other condiments? Depends on samwich, but one or more of the following is consumed: mayo, mustard, tomato lettuce, pickle/relish on a sesame bun.

-Bacon: yes or sometimes or never? Occasionally.

-Jalapenos ever or other peppers? Noooo!

Just to:
How often do you cut fingernails and/or toenails? Whenever they need them, usually once a month unless having jello then it's 2 weeks. Jello/gelatin makes your nails grow faster in case you didn't know.

As an adult have you ever had anyone cut your nails for you? Not yet, when I get to the point where I can't reach them anymore then maybe I'll have someone do them.

Let's all have a Thursday! How about a thirsty Thursday, it's going to be 83F today.

Thanks, let's all enjoy a loaded
