I will visit my mother on the date of my birth, which is the true celebration of Lammas.

OK, it's not really, but it has nothing to do with South American pack animals, either.

It was originally the celebration of the first wheat harvest.

I always observe the 'quarter days' which correspond to the pagan holidays but they don't land on the same days.

The way I was taught is that we use the wheel of the year which employs astrological principals. The quarter day is half-way between the solstices and the equinoxes. That places the sun at 15 degrees of a sign. That is a few days later then the 1st of the month which are the traditional holidays.

I don't call them anything special but I consider them to the the 'special' days and I observe them in my way. They do correspond to the pagan holidays..My Lamas would be in a couple of days. I will probably do something informal. I acknowledge it. To me, these days mark the beginning of the new season and they are more important to me then the solstices and the equinoxes. I don't know why but that is how it is.

I've always understood the solstices and equinoxes to be the quarter days;the midpoints are the cross-quarters. And we pagans use the Wheel of the Year, as well

@FrednotBob......You are right. I don't use the common terminology for myself. I was taught from within and I can only observe the similarities and differences...This is a similarity but you would think I would get the terminology right.

My mistake. Thanks for correcting me.
