Well, we have dozens of kids (both teens and little ones) coming to our house and I only spend 10-15 dollars per year..

I used to hire out as a babysitter on Halloween night and made alot of money taking little kids out in a big group for an hour or two while adults partied or stayed home to answer the door.
Probably have to change that again...I know an 8 year old who needs to use BC to regulate her period.

Buy an extra bag or two of candy. No bigs...

Good point!!!!!!!

My nephew is just 9 years old and is as tall as a 13 year old. Are we going to start asking for IDs before we hand out the snickers? LMAO

Ummmmm OBVIOUSLY

Duh! Didn't you know that is what teens are *supposed* to be doing? Gawdddd

We live on the main drag of a fairly decent sized city (between 45-50K people) and we spend about $65 for Halloween candy. And we have a decent amount left over.

Wow, really? Usually I buy three bags of the assorted fun sized candy bars, which costs me 5 or so dollars each. We have some left over too. I can't imagine spending 65$ on Halloween candy!

The last time I trick-or-treated was 7th grade, when I was 13 years old (1999). If I remember correctly, not many trick-or-treated after that, and in 8th grade, the "cool" kids went to a Halloween party hosted by parent chaperones who didn't really keep an eye on the kids.

My sister, on the other hand, went last year, when she was 16 and in 10th grade. I would have considered that ridiculous when I was a sophomore in high school.

I never thought twice when teens came to the door. They are usually the most polite! I agree with whoever brought up the fact that parents who bring BABIES to the door are the ones eating the candy! So if you only want to give candy to kids - then turn away the adults with babies!

Around here we NEVER get anyone until 5:30 or so and that's the really little ones. Things don't even get going until 6:30ish.

Granted, for years we had a huge Halloween set up, so turn anyone away would have been pathetic. But even now, I wouldn't. What's the big deal. I've yet to have a jerk teenager show up at my door.....

You know what - it's a holiday and it's meant to be fun. If an adult came to my door with a good get up on - they'd get candy. I didn't realize Halloween was only for children.
