LANDSKRONA, Sweden, June 15 (UPI) -- A sign bearing a nude picture of a graduating student as a toddler was reported to Swedish police for violating child pornography laws.

Lars-Olof Cederlund, a spokesman for Landskrona police, said a 48-year-old man reported the graduation celebration sign, which bore an image of a graduating student as a nude 3-year-old, as publicly-displayed child pornography, Swedish news agency TT reported Wednesday.

Didn't something like this happen when some poor parents got some family photos processed at Walmart and there were a couple of naked bath pics (of toddlers)? The staff reported them as child porn and the children were taken away while there was an investigation.

I'm hoping that was just an urban myth, I'll have to look it up. I have to say I've been really careful with naked kid photos since I heard that story. Honestly scary stuff. The actual pedophiles are winning, everybody's so quick to assign a sinister motive to everything these days.

There was actually a case in Kansas City about 20 years ago, in which an elderly couple was arrested and charged for a variety of sex-related felonies. A worker at a photo lab turned over negatives to the police, that showed the grandparents innocently bathing a toddler left in their care. I never heard the results, and I'm assuming that reason prevailed, although that is rarely a safe assumption.

It is really sad. I snapped a really cute pic of dd when she was a toddler. She had climbed up on the kitchen counter and was trying to sneak some candy and I caught her. Of course she was completely naked. I snapped a pic with my cell phone before she knew I was there. I wanted to text it to DH, but then had to stop myself because what if someone else sees it and say I am distributing child porn. Then I was worried about the pic being on my phone. I wanted to keep a copy, but is it worse to walk around with the picture? It snowballed into a big worry.

What should have been a cute little "hey honey. Look at the cute thing your daughter was doing." Became a big worry. It is ridiculous.

Not an urban myth. Parents Sue Walmart After Children Taken Away Over Bath Time Photos - ABC News

The mother was suspended from her job for a year (she worked at a school).

There was also a grandmother arrested for bath time pics. They dropped the charges 18 months later, but if you live in a small town that stigma never really goes away.

It's ridiculous. I've heard the same type of thing about breastfeeding pictures. We had a private photographer do my older daughter's pictures every 3 months for her first year. At the 6 month appointment I was able to choose to have a mother/baby portrait done. I wanted to do a breastfeeding photo, but the photographer refused, saying that when she got the prints she could be exposed to being charged with kiddie porn. Really??! Of course since then I've found numerous other private photographers who were perfectly happy to do nursing photos, so it was just her. (Though I understand that none of the chain photo places ie Portrait Innovations, Sears Photo, etc will do nursing photos either)

Yeah, this kind of thing is the result of well intentioned, but poorly thought out laws dealing with sexual offenses. Sure, rapists and child molesters should have to register and be monitored when they are released, but we've gone way overboard on what constitutes a sexual offense.

For example, an 18 year old kid could have to wear that label for life just for "mooning" the guys on the rival football team.

A guy who is caught taking a leak behind a dumpster could also suffer the same fate.

Sadly, taking pictures of one's kids (toddlers) in the tub could bring the same result....

This subject is something analogous to the Salem witch trials. A whole lot of well intentioned people and looking for foul deeds where they (mostly) don't exist.....
