Iowa woman births 14-pound baby without painkillers - HealthPop - CBS News

I can't even imagine such a big baby and how she did this without epidural is something. If this wasn't a good case for a c section I don't know what would be.

Actually, since she had previously had a very large baby and this one was estimated to be smaller, I'm sure they were not too concerned about her ability to have him vaginally. However, had she gone for the epidural, I bet she probably would have ended up needing a C-section. I personally have found that positioning is everything with helping babies to descend - and standing up/squatting/sitting on the ball is generally not possible with epidural anesthesia.

He is one adorable roly-poly baby in those pics

My mom had the five of us without painkillers. My sister was the runt of the family at just over 8lbs, while my brother and myself were over 10lbs. The twins were 8lbs and some change, each. Yes, she's pretty amazing.

My first was the biggest at 9 lbs 9 oz (natural), and that really freaking hurt. I can't imagine a baby FIFTY PERCENT BIGGER ... sweet merciful. At least this one wasn't her first. The first is the toughest.

My little bitty great-grandma had twins boys at 19, and I think they were both 7 lbs or so. That is a whole lot of person up in there.

I had my daughter naturally and almost died lol (not really but felt like it at the time) and she was only 5 pounds!! (6 weeks early) so I have no idea how this woman did it. Super Mom.

Identical twins in our old town, they are 80 years old now, mom was 5' tall, they were over 10 lbs each . My twins were 7.5 and 6.7. I don't know what I would have done if they were any bigger. I think I would have popped like a balloon.
