What would be a really great confirmation gift for a young man?

It is for my wife's nephew. I think a great gift would be one he would remember but more importantly change his life for the better. Something he can learn from.

What are some great ideas?

Thanks in advance.

His age? Your price range? Are you standing up as his sponsor?

When confirmations were done around here, cash was the usual gift.

His age is 14. We are his sponsor. We don't want to just give him money because he not remember that in the future.

I don't have a specific idea in mind, but have you looked at a Christian book store? I'm sure they'd have something appropriate.

Check out "The Extreme Teen Bible" by Thomas Nelson, Inc. It's geared toward teens. There are different versions/covers. We've given out several as gifts for various occasions. Several Bible publishers have versions of the Bible geared towards teens and the quality of some is definitely gift-able. (We found one with a metal cover that my son carries everywhere in his backpack.)

Thanks you for the replies. I was thinking about a gift that is not necessarily religion related.

Your wife is going to be his sponsor and you don't want to get him a religious gift?

New one to me, but OK. I'll be interested to see what people suggest.

Yeah, we always gave religious gifts since its for confirmation. It's a way to be sure they recognize and remember the significance of the time.

We gave our sons the Teen Commandments, which seems like it would be kinda cheesy, but they actually still have them out in their rooms.

I like the Bible idea, and I would write something personal inside. The other day I found a little copy of the New Testament my godmother had given me more than 35 years ago. I haven't seen her in decades, but I saw the inscription and started crying like a baby as soon as I saw her handwriting.

My wife wants to give him a paper that is detailed and says he adopted a star in a registry. It gives a map and the star can be seen with a telescope.
