I found this article very thought provoking. I recall many threads where folks have discussed children they know who are living is unsuitable conditions, or who may be victims of some type of abuse. The common response is to call CPS, and while that may be warranted, there are also other things we as part of a community can do apart from that as discussed in the article. It's not just a matter of calling CPS or doing nothing. Sometimes simple acts of kindness go a long way.

Of course the most important message is don't wait for someone else to report abuse if you know it's happening.

I think the lesson is simply in that your damn football program should not come above the welfare of children. That's basically all these people were concerned about. They did just enough to legally cover their asses without risking a scandal to jeopardize it.
