A woman whose toddler son ingested a popular toy that contains a chemical that turns into a powerful "date rape" drug when eaten said Thursday she knew he was ill when he began to stumble, seemed drunk and started vomiting.
The mother, Shelby Esses, said her 20-month-old son Jacob, fell down and was limp after getting into his older sister's Aqua Dots, a Chinese-made toy recalled Wednesday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Yeah, I just read about that. Just watch now...some teens are going to run out and try to find some that have not been taken off the shelves yet and buy them to get high. I can't understand how they could actually use any form of coating that would contain anything that could possibly even turn to a drug once injested. Don't they even do testing there?? Guess it's all about the all mighty dollar. How sad!!
OMG - my daughter just got these for a birthday present. Should I get rid of them? Are they the aquadots sold in america as well? She is 7 and does not put things in her mouth any longer.

We had a story in the news yesterday where a 77 YO grandfather picked up the wrong child from daycare. He thought it was his grandson and took him home on his bike.

I agree!! And yes, there were sold in America. You can return them to where they were purchased I would think. It really doesn't matter if your child doesn't put them in her mouth or not...what about another child visiting. It's just to risky. I know it's hard on the children who already are enjoying them but it's better safe then sorry!!
all of thees recalls are scary, when is the government going to set up a better safty inspection system? I mean really this is not all of Chinas fault( yes they are to blame) however thees toy companies must have had some idea that things were not safe, do thay not tour the factories thees things are made at? Or maybe alot of them just do not care as long as we keep on buying the prodeuct.

I was just coming into this thread to chime in but it looks like you've already said it for me. Its not like back in the olden days when people made wooden dreidles, spinning tops, and dolls with button eyes...no parents ever sued the makers! They were just good parents and made sure their dumb little kids didn't try to eat everything!
