Both of my daughters (5 and 10) enjoy making jewelry (particularly bracelets). They have a natural flair for design and are prolific in making them. Adults can wear the bracelets and kids can "dress up" with them. They use plastic, wooden, and other types of beads. Jewelry making started out as a hobby. The jewelry was for personal use and family gifts, but the five year old has made over 100 and has no sign of stopping. Her little jewelry box can hold but so much. My MIL and I are thinking that maybe we can have the girls go into business. It would be a great way for them to work and make money doing something that they love. The girls are excited at the prospect of designing for money. They've sold a few to family members but I am totally clueless on how to market them outside of family. I am not particularly entrepreneurial or outgoing. Any ideas? I'd love to foster entrepreneurship.

Thanks in advance!

Set them up an Etsy account. Also post on local Facebook swap groups.

Reserve a booth at a town festival or school carnival.

Etsy and a booth are the best way. I too would give a portion of the profits to a children's or animal charity. let the kids pick something, not only will it instill thinking and helping others, it may sell the bracelets to people who would never consider buying them and or give people the incentive to buy more.

Good for you and for them! I agree that Etsy and fair/festival/community market booths are a great way to get them going. As they get older and if they're still interested, they can make their own websites and find other marketing opportunities. Such a great learning endeavor for them!
