What is the right age for adolecents or young teens to wach pornography? Or is there a right age? Most adolecents and teens know about it, and have access to it. What are some of the methods used by parets to decrease their interest in this?

What are forums for? Ask for advice and learn from other peoples experiences. I see this as a very difficult issue.

I don`t think there is an appropriate age for young teens to be viewing porn. I also don`t think there is much, we, as parents can do or say that is going to stop their curiosity in wanting to watch it.
Hell, if I had my way, I would lock my son in the closet when he starts getting curious about this, but we all know thats impossible too.

Kids are going to do it unfortunetly, if thats what they want to do.
It could be at a friends house, etc. I was curious in my day, along with a few others on here I`m sure, so even though I knew it was wrong, I watched it anyway, outside of the home.

I knew it was wrong to light up that first cigarette I smoked too at a young age, but I was curious, and stupid. LOL..

There are things that parents can do to prevent this viewing in their home, for example, parental blocks on the net, or TV.
Just keeping a "heads up" on their kids life. Pay attention.

Yes, you are right. On that note, I will share an experience my professor shared with us.

While cleaning her teenage's son's room, she found some porn magazines under his bed. When he came home, she sat him down and looked through the magazines with him, pointing out which ones were tasteful, which ones were degrading women, and why. Page by page... I think it was probably a good learning experience for him! Of course, this story is even funnier if you knew the woman...

Obviously, from my first post, I don't think there is any age that is appropriate to view porn. Yet, at the same time, I don't think we should lambast it--we are all curious, and most of us all have that part in our brain that wants to see it. Seeing too much of something desensitizes our minds, making real sex less magical and making ourselves less tuned into the sublities of it (obviously, this is a huge generalization on my part).

18 on is the perfect age in my house for viewing pornography. When they are old enough to have their own place, with their own computer and their own bills.

As it stands now, I have a 16 year old son, and 15 and 11 year old daughters. My son has a desktop computer in his room (being older it was a privilage.. and was really a "hand-me-down" when I got a new laptop). My 15 year old daughter has a lap top that was given to her by her mother (she lives with me in Texas, her mom is in Calif), so I can't 'not' let her use it, but I let her know when and how. They are both clear on the "no pornography" on the computers. It's not that I'm against porn... my wife and I watch it from time to time on tv. But there's no chance of "pop ups" or downloading of malicious ware on tv. My son experimented with it (which I don't see as "un-normal" ... how many of us guys tried to sneak a peak at our dad's Playboy?). But I told him I didn't want him viewing it on the computer because of his sisters. My wife and I periodically check the history (and there's deeper ways to check into the computer he doesn't know about in case he tries to delete the history). And, to his credit, he's been spot on with it.

We (my wife and I) are open and honest about sex and related topics. If they ask a direct question, we'll give them an honest answer. But we don't delve into showing pictures or other stuff! And if the 11 year old is around, we make the answer PG.

That said, my youngest was spending a night at the friends house. When she came back the next day, she told us how shocked she was because her friend's older brother (who's 12) was viewing porn on their computer. I don't think the mom new about it.. but that he called his sister and my daughter in to see it DID disturb me. We asked her other "pertinent" questions about her staying there and things that did or didn't happen. Needless to say, she's not staying there again until we have a chance to talk to the parents! 11 years old!!!

My sons were teens before tha age of internet porn, for which I am thankful. They were probably 12-13 when I found the first "dirty" magazines in their rooms. Kids, what are you going to do.

I'm wired differently than most in society.

I'm a believer in the school of "it'll happen anyway". 16 and up would probably be my boundary in that case. I feel if you're old enough and responsible enough to get a driver license you should be old and responsible enough to handle some smut. Besides, it's not like seeing other people have sex is anything new to any kid except the most extremely sheltered. If they're going to do it themselves, as long as it's legal in the state, and they use protection, that's fine too; I would educate them about the fact that the majority of people who have sex at a young age live to regret it.

Of course, I think the days of little Johnny finding smut in their parents' room are slowly coming to an end. In my case, everything either is or is soon to be on my media server which is restricted access.

Bottom line, if you're bothered, get parental control software to lock it down.

ROFL... I must admit that I feel a little differently about it, but man, what a great quote! Made my day!

My husband's father gave him a subscription to playboy when he was like 14/15, and allowed him to view porn on the computer in his room when he was a teen also. They were pretty liberal with that kind of stuff in general though. They also let him drink alcohol at home and swear in front of them, etc. Really, he was a very good kid. I think they figured this way he'd get it out of his system while under their roof and wouldn't feel the need to go out and get in trouble sneaking around. It seems that it worked for them too.
