how people can simply forget an infant or child in a vehicle!
I just read another story, this time a 3 year old was left in a truck by his mother, he died trying to save himself.
In Milwaukee recently a daycare provider left an infant in a vehicle. Every year there are similiar such cases. That doesn't even count the idiots who leave children in hot vehicles for too long while they go into a store.
How can you forget that there is a child left in a vehicle???????????????:ma d:
I don't know...I know personally I would never forget...but I do think there are mothers who are legit and really forgot...I can not fathom the guilt they have to live with....BUT, I also think there are just dumb people who need to rot in jail for it...Can you imagine the pain of cooking in a car? Awful....
That is why I taught my 4 year old to undo her seatbelt, under her sisters belt, and how to unlock and open the door...
They need to invent an alarm that is put into carseats...once the car stops moving (for a specific amount of time) it should sound off....
Knock on wood--I don't think we had such an incident locally this summer--maybe I missed it. If so, glad I did.
A few years ago a mother/grandmother/custodial person working for a government agency, I almost think it was Child Welfare, but maybe not--left an infant asleep in the car. She didn't go and check on him--thought she had dropped him at daycare or some such story.
I'm generally left with a mixture of emotions when I hear such stories. 'How, Why?'
There was another similar situation, this time a professional woman, maybe a doctor?, I just can't remember. She thought her it was her husband's day to take the child to daycare--she had some big meeting or something and had a lot on her mind. She was absolutely devastated.
Nothing will ever 'Top' the 2 doctors, vacationing in ?? who left their children to have dinner with friends and the child was kidnapped or something. What can you say, think, feel?
These stories just break my heart every summer. I don't understand either. My childrens daycare and now afterschool program always call if they aren't there and I forgot to let them know. That alone could prevent some of these from happening. It is such an awful way for these little ones to suffer and die.
When I'm in the car by myself, I'm almost always looking over my shoulder at the empty carseats in the back. It's like part of my body is missing. Not sure how I could get out of the car and walk away without my arm.

I'm the same way, it feels very strange when I do not have anyone with me. With all these horrible stories, I have also taught my kids how to undo their car seats but also as soon as I turn on the car, I roll down my window until I drive away in case I have to get down for something and the locks lock themselves with kiddos inside. These are very sad situations for these parents, grandparents, caregivers; imagine the guilt they are experiencing?
There isn't an excuse in this world - they can give as to why they left their child in a hot car - TO DIE!!!
