We currently live in NY where kids get out of school in June, however we are relocating to S.C. where they are out in May, how does that usually work if its to late for them to transfer into school down there but they still have one month to go up here? Any ideas or anyone know the answer to this one?
Call the kids school and find out what the process is. If their grades are good they will probally be okay and get a free month. Their school will be able to tell you what needs to be done.
It goes by the date you move to your new location usually. If you live where school is in session, the kids should be in school. I worked with a woman whose granddaughter came to live with her from Florida to Pa. She arrived after her school was done in Florida, but school was in session still here, well to her surprise, she had to enroll her granddaughter in school for a month and a 1/2 in Pa.!

when i moved inside va after 10th grade they had a cutoff date for grade finalization. it was like 3 weeks b4 the end of the school year. most systems do it like that. so just see if your kids grades can be finalized.
I agree with Alanboy; see if you can get your kids' grades finalized.
I once had to take my kid out of school 3 weeks early because of a trip; I just made sure that he did everything he needed to do before the year ended.
