Advertisements

And now, once again, the fashion company is shocking and titillating passersby with a new ad campaign in New York City's Soho neighborhood, a place where young mothers with strollers mingle with artists and hipsters.

A giant 50-foot-tall billboard advertising Calvin Klein jeans features two young men and a young woman entangled half-clothed (a male and female kissing) as a third man lays at their feet, either undressing or putting his pants back on.

Somehow I don't think they are targeting the parental demographic, and won't really care if parents don't buy their jeans over this.

I did not follow the link but I saw it on the news.

While I'm not even sure I find it innapropriate, I do believe that SEX is involves intercourse and there is none of that going on!

I think it's beautiful. I think that the reaction to it is what would confuse the children. We are an open society and it is a select few who complain and get offended by EVERYTHING that makes something like this so bad.

I'm super open minded when it comes to sexuality and things but I feel that is really inappropriate.

Same here. Calvin Klein's ads aren't racy; they're deliberately illicit. I saw a commercial for Calvin Klein (jeans, I think) that looked like runaway teens being recruited to do porn in some guy's janky basement. It gave me the creeps.

I'm big on the First Amendment, though. Object with your wallets.

"Many couldn't understand what all the "commotion" is about. One commenter on New York magazine's Web site declared, "All I can see are beautiful people having a good time…It's not the advertising that makes little children confused, it's the uptight handling with sex-related issues in general of their parents." "

Nothing like encouraging group sex!

As always, companies such as Calvin Klein & Abercrombie & Fitch promote their brand through sexualtion. They've been doing it for years.

No, really don't want my 3yr old seeing that though I doubt it would catch his attention. As for a teenager... it's promoting sex....so, if you are ok with your teenager engaging in such a thing..well, then guess you ok with it!

Calvin Klein likes to push the edge and push buttons. Wasn't CK the one who had Brooke Shields half naked when she was a teenager?

I have no issue discussing sex with my children. It's very normal & healthy if between committed partners.

The ad is not depicting any such thing.

Oh, yeah, and some of you need to catch a few episodes of Chris Hansen and Dateline NBC & catch up on some human biology or criminal law...a person can be deemed a sex offender by soliciting sex. A teenager can be tried & found guilty for rape without evidence of penetration. So, sex does not have to include intercourse.

It's the typical lack of responsibility by a company who is known for it. Doubt it will cause any major issues.

The "free love" mentality of this sociey cracks me up. And then people wonder why teenagers have no morals or care or adults get divorced when they get bored. The day I tell my sons that threesomes are great & that go ahead, I don't want to be an uptight parent..yeah, whatever..

what is so hilarious is that by posting this you are doing exactly what they wanted...to get your attention and have you bring it to other peoples attention. Even if the ad doesnt target you directly they are getting everyone to look at it. Think about it...what are kids best know for doing as they get older? Rebelling from their parents point of view and what they parent thinks is wrong the child sees as right.

It is actaully a great advertising tool.

]Yep, that was a big controversy back then. Mark Wahlberg and Anna Nicole Smith got there starts with Calvin Klein too. There marketing style has never changed, bc it works.

I pretty open minded too but I don't think it needs to be on display for everyone to see.

I won't be buying from Calvin Klein.
