Start teaching your kids to look both ways before walking into the road....the earlier the better

Elementary student hit by a car at bus stop - WRCBtv.com | Chattanooga News, Weather & Sports

Surveillance video shows kids getting hit by vehicles after getting off school buses

If your waiting at the bus stop for your child, do not allow that child to walk onto the road until he/she looks both ways...the bus driver will wait....don't not do this b/c you might be embarrassed to do so...
Put out your hand and yell, stop!!! Tell the child to look both ways and then if a car isn't coming, they can cross....

Do it, please, it may save a life.

This is also the reason why cars are supposed to stop for school buses. They should not be going even if they are on going the other way on the street. Of course, you do have to teach your kids to be safe by looking before crossing, but the drivers are at fault in this situation.

Yes this. School buses have stop signs that pop out when the children are entering and exiting the bus for a reason. Traffic going both directions is obligated to stop until the stop sign is retracted by the bus driver.

Kids should be taught to religiously look both ways before crossing any street.

All school buses should have onboard video and any car caught passing while the bus is stopped and arm deployed should get a $1000 fine and have their license suspended for 6 months. It's ridiculous that 3 vehicles in a row with clear visibility of the bus passed it when the lights were flashing. Each one of those drivers needs to be taken off the road immediately.

I totally agree, however, there are not enough cops to go around any longer, as communities are constantly cutting their budgets and putting a freeze on hiring more cops....so?

But totally agree
thank you

A surprising number of cars don't stop when they are supposed to but our bus driver makes it known - he lays on the horn for them. I have to admit, I didn't know you had to stop but luckily all the cars in front of me stopped so I figured it out. I grew up and lived in an area that did not have school buses, and only moved into this area that has school buses a year ago.

I agree. While people should ALSO stop for school buses, kids need to learn not to jump out in a road without looking both ways.

WTH? 3 cars didn't stop?! What?

I taught my kids to look both ways, and then again and again no matter where they are crossing the road. Still, what the heck? How come 3 cars blazed by? Isn't stopping mandatory EVERYWHERE when a bus is letting off a student?

And how did this turn into bashing undocumented people?
