Did not realize how high the taxes are. Good thing I went to a discount store for my festivities package. fireworks, another dying US tradition ,the tax should be cut in half.

My neighbors caught their house on fire a few years ago from improperly stored fireworks. They had the fireworks in a tool shed, with a compost pile up against it. The compost pile caught on fire one day, which caught the tool shed on fire, which ignited the fireworks. The tool shed was under a tree, which caught on fire, and burning leaves fell on the owners' house and their next door neighbors' house. Other than the tree, tool shed, and fence the damage wasn't too severe (though both houses had to have their roofs redone).

At any rate, for anyone storing fireworks, keep them away from compost piles. Those things do catch on fire.

Happy 4th everyone!

I really dislike the new fireworks rule and hope the PA legislature amends their stupid new law, at least outlaw the boomers. I hate them. A punitive tax with lax laws didn't stop excessive fireworks from going off all around. I'm thankful that in my area people stopped around 10 pm, but my dog was shaking the whole time.

I'm not happy either that Pennsylvanians can now buy them legally. My neighbors are a pretty decent bunch, but someone was setting off fireworks just after midnight on the 4th of July. Not all of us had off on July 5...some of us had to work.
