Hey Folks
looking at a transfer with my company to the P'cola area within the next year. even though I'll have employment, I also do decorative concrete and concrete countertops on the side. what is the home improvement market like there? My wife runs a daycare in the home and may or may not want to continue that down there. Is there a decent market for that? And one last thing, any transfered folks on here that can tell me what your good and bad observations of the area?
Our overall desire here is to live near the gulf coast in an area somewhat like our hometown of Roanoke Va. We are trying to do our research now, so that if this opportunity does materialize, we can be ready.
I would welcome any input/advice you may have, many thanks!

The home improvement market in Pensy is really in the tank, like most of the rest of Florida. And even during the good times, the housing market tends to skew toward the McBuilders instead of people who want something more custom.

Daycare, there's always going to be a demand for a good quality option wherever you go.

Pensacola is probably the most Southern city in Florida. (Mardi Gras celebrations going on right now) Some beautiful old neighborhoods, some really poor areas. Schools can be hit or miss. The beaches are beuatiful and ample and if you want to get into that black hole of time and money of recreational boating, it's easy to do that.
