What document are you using to verify he is deceased?
He's not on the s.s. death index. Only 30 such names nationwide.
Common reasons for exclusion include the following:
a. The death was not reported to the Social Security Administration (SSA).
b. Death occurred before the Master File was in a computer database in 1962.
c. The person did not participate in the Social Security program.
d. Survivor death benefits were (are) being paid to dependents or spouse.
e. A recent death may not be indexed yet.
f. Human error.
SSDI: Getting Started
A. Usually reported by a family member or the coroner who has the death certificate.
B. This seems to be eliminated.
C. He was just under 63 so he may not have been getting s.s. benefits.
D. Unknown if this might apply.
E. This seems to be eliminated if it's been 8 years.
F. Sad but true in some rare cases.
If you are only 25 miles from the address where he lived in what 2008?
Maybe some weekend, drive up there and knock on doors.
Someone in that neighborhood may be old enough, and lived there long enough to remember something,
anything.
