Would you please stop calling me! An automated message harasses me at least one a day, every day, assuring me that they have a great deal for me.

When I call the 800 number back, it asks for my 16 digit account number - I Don't Have One. I hit zero repeatedly to get "Customer Service". I ask for someone named Linda, who has left endless messages on my phone.
I am told that 'Linda' is an automated service. Then I am hung up on.

Seriously, I am going to call that 800 number twice a day, every day, to waste your money, because you have wasted my time trying to sell me a credit card that I do not want, especially now. I'm using this forum to reach you because I can't reach you any other way.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Capital One Customer Service. Linda does not read this message board. Linda is an automated service. If you wish to return to the main menu, press pound. Otherwise, this call will end in five seconds.

You could try the do not call list option but I found I still get bothered by telemarketers. Kind of hard to yell at anyone because it is all automated. I personally think it is their way of getting around the law.

You won't win trying to run up their phone bill, the amount of time you spend out of your day is likely worth way more than whatever deal they have on phone rates.

I am on the DNC list, and my number is not published in the phone book. I'm just hoping that some suit from Capital One will see this and re-think their policy, but I doubt it. Just wanted to vent. It is beyond frustrating that I can't just get them to take my number off their list.

Is it the same 1800 number? Can you block the number?

They have a number to opt out of market solicitations: 1-888-817-2970, If that doesn't work . . .

Their contact number is 1-800-955-7070. Or even better, phone them collect at 1-804-934-2001. Keep hitting 0 on your phone pad until you get a human Tell them the nature of the calls you are receiving, tell them not to put you on hold or transfer you, tell them you are on the do-not-call list, be sure to mention that they are committing a criminal offense, tell them that they have been formally placed on notice, tell them to remove your number from their calling list, tell them you will contact your state attorney general if the calls do not stop, and ask how long it will take to have your calls stopped, and get the full name and the extension of the person you talk to, ask to speak to the supervisor if they say they can't do what you want.

That DNC list is full of crap. It doesn't work apparently against institutions like CO and that healthcare bs number that keeps calling my phone.

The DNC list does not protect you from calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors.

When the above call, I politely tell them Im on the DNC list. They are trained and prepared to say "But we are not subjec to the DNC list". I then say "But you ARE subject to common human decency, which obliges you to look at the do not call list, and don't call people who don't want you to call. Now, please remove my number from your call list." That makes me feel better.

If anyone violates the DNC, you have the burden of proof that they violated the law, and you must track them down yourself, and report their name and address to the proper authorities, and assemble convincing proof of their guilt. Which, constitutionally, is the way it should be. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty with due process, and the due process is you building the case against them that proves their guilt.
