I am speaking of women 18-30 generally. Older women are more likely to save and invest wisely.
Where are these real life?
Do the women really need a manicure and pedicure all the time? Spa treatment?

We also hate shopping, and only go into a store if we need something. I don't even let people give me Christmas or birthday presents because I don't want useless junk in my house.
I would bet that if you surveyed a random sample (somewhere where real people live, rather than people in movie star cities) of men and women, on how much they spend on non-essentials every month, the men spend just as much as the women. I think men just tend to spend more on big ticket items (toys) than women do, on average. Even there though, I would guess that many, if not most, modern couples spend on big ticket items as a couple, rather than one person being surprised to come home and find a new TV or a jet ski. And I think the old stereotype about men coming home to find their wife just got home from a $6000 shopping spree is very very rare these days. If I go shopping for clothes, my husband goes too, and we both spend about the same amount of money.
Everyone knows young girls like to go to malls and max out their credit cards.
Texas User, I think you are just having fun getting women riled up here. If I'm right, that's called trolling. Unfortunately, in real life there are plenty of people of both genders who are poor money managers.

Men are bad too but its the women who like to 'shop' for disposable items.

Really? I was a young girl...my friends and I NEVER went to the mall (except at xmas to buy people their gifts) to just go spend money. And none of us had credit cards.
I think you need to stop watching tv and then calling that 'real life.'
I find it to be correct in my anecdotal observations.
Are there parties of both sexes who blow money?
Absolutely.
Are the women I know more app to spend than the men I know.
Absolutely.
Is this a fair summation of the world?
No.
But It's what I see.
I see people both sexes who are big spenders. But they tend to spend on different things: women on fashion, gifts for friends, cute gadgets (new white iPhone with pink case) and so on. Men will spend on lame things for their cars, nerdy tech toys, or blow it on dating women. I admit I do the latter
