How is this legal? Is it because it's Indian people? I know dumb people deserve what they get. But this seems pretty absurd. If you can't read the fine print. You get 5k bucks and in turn pay them 490/month for 7 years. How is this any different than a drug dealer?

I agree, it's bad. It would have to be a life or death situation to consider that type of terms.
Native American = American Indian
Those are the terms for the folks that were residing here prior Europeans invaded and settled. I suppose Native New World or New World Indian might be more correct, however those aren't the terms.
"Indian" is actually a term used for descendants of the Indian Kingdoms, typically referred to as Epic India or Greater India. Geographically, this includes modern day India, along with several surrounding countries.
"Indian American" is a term for a subset of Americans that are Indian.
Unlike the other terms, the term "American" is not used to describe a race.
I, too, would like to know whether the business being Native American owned matters in this case. Can anyone give loans like that or are they allowed to break an existing regulation because it's on their reservation? If they are allowed to break the regulation, what specific regulation is it?
