You will get screwed by any bank on the exchange rate spread and commission. Best bet is to find someone who plans to go to Switzerland and do a private deal or to keep it until the next time.

I have 100,000 Korean Won in my wallet. (US$80) I keep meaning to sell it to one of my Korean co-workers when they're headed back to the Mother Ship. A week in Korea on business and I didn't use any cash at all.

Chase probably has a branch in NOLA - probably downtown - that handles foreign currency.

the big banks in Portland, including chase, have downtown branches that do foreign exchange.

lol, swiss francs...euros...swedish kronor.

i actually have a lot of foreign bills from my travels. i usually just use some cash and whatever i have left over i keep for the next time i go to that country. there are a few countries that i have never returned to but someday...

if you work, then just email it to your co-workers. there is probably someone willing to change it for you who collects bills, will be going to sweden soon, etc.

fwiw, i have about 200 usd worth of swedish kronor from my first trip there 3 months ago. it was a cool country to visit and i had a lot of fun in stockholm. i'll be back...

Go to your bank. If they wont exchange it, they will know who will locally.

Sometimes they will send you to a different branch as not all branches of any given bank do foreign exchange.

I have a 10,000 Vietnamese Dong bill (value around $2). It has paid for itself many times over in entertainment value as I ask friends and acquaintances (usually female) if they 'would like to see my Dong'.
