Why would you choose a paper check over bill pay or eft/ach?

We pay our mortgage through a set up account where it's deducted every month. It gave us a bit more of a interest drop if we set it up that way. Credit union. We send a additional check once a year.

When we rented: cash, check or money order.

Now as owners: check or money order

Because I have had my checking account DRAINED on more than one occasion, That is why.

I've also had MONTHLY payments being deducted on a WEEKLY basis, then not had my money refunded. That also caused me to "bounce" checks-whIch I DO NOT DO {I don't even play "floats"..if it ain't cleared in my account I DON'T write a check on it}, but since MORE MONEY was taken out of account than I AUTHORIZED, WITHOUT my knowledge, It caused checks I wrote not to be honored, incurring overdraft fees, and bad check fees too.
NONE of which, along with the WEEKLY that should have BEEN MONTHLY "overcharges" to be returned to me. In one case, the ONLY way to stop it six months later was to close that account, and start a new one, then the OVERCHARGING OFFENDER said "well we can't refund your money because you don't have that account anymore"...I SAID BS you can refund my money in a check, "oh no sir, we don't do that"...I said I'm stopping services with you, you got my money once, but never again.

Nope, I DO NOT authorize ANY auto deductions except my health insurance in case I am in the hospital and can't manually pay it, and the credit union's own loan to me. That is IT.

Plus, my mortgage, for instance, I can ADD to it principal only payments, easier than trying for ACH deductions that get applied as regular payments. I've had THAT issue as well.

Nope, a regular PAPER check for A regular PAPER bill for me.

That's why.

I've also had my credit cards compromised, double billed, triple billed, and charged to the limit, but I have protections on those.

Our landlord sends us a hand written bill and he gets a hand written check.
He also started charging for water and trash last year, EFF Seattle.
Our home in Georgia has no mortgage.
