Hi all

I just wanted to discuss ways to make money on Craigslist. A couple weeks back, I was in desperate need of money and had a mandolin sitting around the house. I placed an ad on CraigsList just for the heck of it and sold it the same day for a very good price. Today, I sold an IPOD for a very good price and had 5 people call in less than 2 hours. I always feel good after selling stuff on CraigsList and I wondering if there are more sophisticated ways of making money on Craigslist? Thanks!

Unless you are selling those items for more than what you paid for them, you aren't really making any money.

I am somewhat fascinated by craigslist. I don't know the history but it seems to be an incredible resource. Anyway, good luck in your sales endeavors.

Craig Newmark and the whole craigslist phenomenon is incredible. I think I went to a craigslist block party back in 1996 and remember thinking -- I'm really glad the bay area has something like this -- and now the craigslist community is in virtually every city and metro area.

Yeah, it sort of varies. In the Spokane & North Idaho area, Craigslist is generally cheaper, so if I'm selling something I expect to get less for it on Craigslist that other selling avenues...

The erotic services could be more sophisticated :P LOL....CL has everything!

Anyways, I guess you could go to thrift stores and garage sales and buy things even cheaper than sell on CL.

As long as you have some great pictures, don't type your whole ad in CAPS, good descriptions, and put a contact phone number on there you can sell well.

and how to search nationwide? I'm always on the hunt for 'rare' things. (like 50 MPG diesel VW Passats... '96-'97)

We've had my husband's boat listed on craigslist for a month now, we haven't gotten much response. Only one serious inquiry and he didn't buy it. But I'm gonna keep trying since it's a free service.
