Probably should have posted this in http://www.city-data.com/forum/personal-finance/

IANAL, but quick answer is state income tax withholding should go to Oregon, the state you are employed to work in.

If you are the only company employee in Oregon, employer may need to get a State Tax ID #.

New York may consider your employment taxable in NY as it is for your convenience (not your employers) that you are in Organ. Try searching on telecommunications and convenience of employee taxes. Congress may have passed some laws to resolve but I do not recall.

If you are a resident of Oregon, Oregon wants its cut.

And I believe New York wants its cut as well, so you may end up paying taxes to BOTH places.

You may be better off moving over the line into Washington state, where at least there is no income tax.
