One that doesn't nickle and dime you to death with fees. In other words, your local credit union.

If you've got $16,500 laying around - nobody can beat Chase's $500 bonus for savings and checking. Checking needs $1,500 maintained for 90 days and a direct deposit of any size in the first 60 days and savings needs to not dip below $15k for 90 days and then you get all $500.

Capitalone money market account -- $500 bonus for $50,000 deposit @1.40%. $500 credited to your account right away after deposit. No obligation. You can withdraw the amount right away.

And if you have your own home, go get HELOC at 0.75%. Right away you borrow the money and deposit into Capitalone. Sure win. More secure than investing in stock market.

I was also going to suggest Chase, but I also like Credit Unions

I use a bank that waives all the fees if I have one deposit per month. I’ve had an account there for 20 years. For personal banking, what matters to me is lots of branches and ATMs in my travel pattern. I don’t have my “real” money there. That’s my household checking account. My emergency fund is with an internet bank that pays much higher interest rates. I scrape excess cash out of my household account and push it to the internet bank. These days, I can move money in 24 hours.

Oh, I like CUs a lot too, but they're usually pretty stingy on the opening bonuses compared to large and regional banks.
