If it's a young relative, you may want to teach them a lesson....LOL.

I've watched Judge Judy and she is one tough cookie!

They always say, never lend money to family and friends unless it's money you don't need. Most cases they will never pay you back, you'll get excuse after excuse and your friendship will be ruined or your family will be broken up.

Years ago, my older brother wanted to use my credit card to charge his g/f engagement ring. I knew to say NO. The relationship didn't work out and he has since been working/fired/working/fired etc......

It's only $500.00. Is it really worth the hassle of taking it to small claims? You wait around all day long for a few dollars - that you may never see again. Just sayin' ........

In California small claims is $7500.00 or less.

For someone who may have been laid off, or hours cut, that $500 can put food on the table or pay the electric bill.

To you $500 may not seem like a lot, but to most, that means another month of survival for the family.

Exclamation OK...here's the situation

Money is owed to my business. The amount is about $2k. The person that owes the money has other major creditors after them. So Small Claims and having a tarnished credit image are of no obvious concern.

They still live high on the hog.

As mentioned Small Claims or a Collection Agency will have no effect.

Is it legal after repeated written attempts, emails and phone calls to collect with no action to post a sign that says, "Mr X owes this business Money"????

Simple and to the point. Is it legal to do this.

Thanks for any input.

JR

Then you file the judgement and continue to and wait in that case.Evenually they will need to get the judgement cleared.
