Hi, well, I don't like giving away a lot of information about myself to just anyone, but this has bothered me for a little while. My mother passed away about a year ago, and my dad lives in another state. I also lost my parents' house in a fire after hurricane Katrina. Currently, I'm living in a student apartment complex. Everything would be okay, but I'm probably going to start teaching soon, and I could really use at least a part time job related to my area of study right now. I also need to work on improving my credit score so I can get accepted into a real apartment and get a vehicle. I have almost zero income, and most of the work I do is volunteer work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about going to graduate school, but I would probably incur more debt.

I think you'd need to give a bit more information for anybody to be able to help you.

When are you graduating? How are you paying your bills now?

It sounds as if you should graduate and get a job, and if you want to go back to graduate school, do it later with possibly your employer paying for it.

Did you get any insurance money from your parents' house, or does your dad have that?

Actually, it's pretty complicated. I didn't get any money from my parents' house. I'm paying most of my expenses using minimal support from my dad, and I'm affording college with the help of financial aid. I could really use a job now, but they aren't so easy to find. Plus, I don't have reliable transportation.

To the person who moved this:

I posted in the Mobile (pron. Moe-beel), AL forum, because I am currently a resident of Mobile, and local advice would have been appreciated.
