About 2 weeks ago I had a mouse hiding under a file in my house. It was white and gold like a hamster in color. Do wild mice have this coloring?

I'm pretty sure not. Someone's pet probably escaped... or they dumped it Since it was two weeks ago, it's too late to anything about it I imagine.

Yes, some wild mice have white with tan/gold coloration. Deer mice, wood mice, and field mice all have white bellies/paws with light to dark tan fur on the upper body.

The hanta virus is in plenty of places in the US. It's been found in the southwest, Florida, Louisiana, even New York. Actually, there is more than one type of hanta virus.

CDC - Hantavirus
