I am a 23yr old guy with a job in Wayne, PA who moved to Philly in the middle of February. I commute everyday by car and it normally takes me an hour each way. I only know a few people in Philly, but our schedules so far have not lined up to allow us to hang out. Where could I go or what could I join/participate in to meet other young people my age? Going home and just chilling in my apartment for the rest of the night gets old, and not having a group of friends to hang out with on the weekends is not fun. I've been busy traveling the past several weekends but now my schedule is free and I'd like to meet other people to do things with. I'm not a big drinker but I'm open to anything.

A site like Meetup.com may be a good source to find people with whom you may share similar interests. Wayne itself isn't a bad place to hang out with some decent socializing spots; nearby Bryn Mawr could work as well. There's certainly no lack of options in the neighborhoods in and around Center City; again, it just depends on your interests. If you prefer a suburban atmosphere, Conshohocken, West Chester and perhaps Media would be your best bets.

I suggest looking into Young Friends events if you're into art or music (there's one for the Art Museum and one for the orchestra). Look into joining the Union League. Look into affinity group events (whether religious or ethnic). The Young Professionals Network also throws a lot of great events.

I'll check that site out, thanks for the suggestions. I wouldn't hang out in Wayne because after work I'm focused on getting home ASAP because rush hour on 76 sucks.

I will check all three of those out, I have never heard of them before, thanks! Not really an art or orchestra guy but I'll see what it's about.

Even simple things like bars or gyms can help you meet people.

If you're not into art or orchestra, YPN is your thing. They're a general meetup group that does everything under the sun.

I workout at the gym at my office, but I'll hit up a couple bars in the area.

Yeah, you can't meet friends if you're hammered anyways haha. Go to a bar and get a few beers and socialize.
