Over the past two months, I've seen a spike in Amazon packages delivered to the wrong address here in South Philly. I've had other people's packages delivered to my house multiple times and I've also had packages that were "delivered", but never showed up (probably delivered to the wrong address).

Anyone else notice the terrible dip in Amazon's delivery services?

It happens all the time in Manayunk and Roxborough. The USPS constantly says delivery was attempted and a notice was left, but delivery was never attempted and a notice was never left. I've only had it happen to me once, and contacted Amazon and they sent me a new shipment at no charge. I hear it all the time from neighbors though.

Yup. And now Amazon is hiring drivers and supplying their own trucks and they are NOT qualified to be delivering packages. They have trucks/vans with "Amazon" on the side, but it's not even USPS or UPS. I had a grocery delivery (Amazon Fresh) come to the house and a guy stack up three food boxes at the bottom of my steps. I looked on the box and he was 1 full block off of the proper address. Never asked my name, never looked at the house number directly in front of him. When I told him he had the wrong address, he said "Oops".

Is the UPS still their major shipper?

No clue, but I know they're building their own shipping service:

And I've seen a lot more Amazon vans, delivering packages on Sundays and other times. Very amateur and poorly done.

Not surprising. There's an Amazon warehouse down the street from me ... If you saw the type of people they employ, you'd understand. Lotta lowlifes.

I haven't had issues with Amazon deliveries going to the wrong address, but I have had many issues. Recently, UPS claimed one of my deliveries was attempted, but I was home the entire time and obsessively looking for the truck. It was a next day order, which was expensive, so I called and they had the driver come back.

Amazon's independent contractors are hit or miss---some are great, some not so much. Sometimes I'll get next day, they'll "attempt" delivery, and then the very next day, there's suddenly a package on my door step. Sometimes I get a call, sometimes I don't. The lack of consistency is a bit infuriating. They need to get it together.

That's part of what concerns me. Seeing a package wrongly delivered in a careless fashion by people in wife beaters and neck tattoos. That's not a joke, I've seen that exact scenario.

Now, if people with neck tattoos are properly trained, held accountable, and made to dress in a reasonably professional manner, by all means, employ these folks. But, none of that appears to be happening for some of these 3rd parties.

Same thing here with UPS. Less often a problem than these 3rd parties, and at least there is some professional demeanor.

The reason I started a thread is because so many people are talking about it on my street. And because a package delivery is a private arrangement, with names, addresses and semi-confidential information in play. Careless delivery should be not be tolerated IMO.

I get other peoples mail delivered to my building regularly - by the US Postal Service. Sometimes people on my block - sometimes people with just a similar address in an entirely different zip code! The post office!

My wife used to work in a hotel. The post office's website would often say they were unable to deliver packages because the business was closed. A hotel is a 24/7/365 operation. One day my wife asked the mail carrier why this happened, and they said because they have a 3 day guarantee they have to lie and say they tried to deliver it even when they didn't. So they put business closed - even though the delivery wasn't even attempted.
