Just been looking at houses in this area recently. Between Tatum and 40th st it looks really nice but west of 40th street the neighborhoods look kind of run-down with neglected houses and yards.

I'm just curious if anyone is familiar with this area, how is the crime, how are the neighbors, etc...

I lived at 47th and Robert E Lee about 5 years ago. Zip code 85032. Close to Tatum, Desert Ridge, etc. There wasn't alot of crime then, but there were police helicopters flying around at night sometimes. People used to speed down the street to get to Tatum and there was a school right across the street. Had to get enough signatures to get speed bumps on REL st. Then I moved to Chandler ! Don't know how it is now.

That area has some neighborhoods that are very nice and crime free, however there are other neighborhoods that are having issues with neighborhood crime. It just depends on what neighborhood you’re dealing with. As for crime over all the Phoenix Police website offers information on each of the area neighborhoods within the city. Other city suburbs have good and bad areas just like Phoenix metro, you have to pick wisely before buying a home.

Some of the area between Cave Creek Rd and the SR51 has more crime then others within that zip code.

We lived on 46th Street a few blocks south of Greenway for 23 years. We had no complaints. I am not obsessed with crime like so many seem to be here, but in 23 years our only issue was getting TP-ed a couple of times by some moronic kids who apparently got the wrong house.

There is an area in that vicinity commonly referred to as "the slums of PV." I'm sure someone else will have the specifics for you. There is lots of investor activity in that area.
