He visits my yard or the neighbors almost every day. He sits high up in the palm tree and sings his heart out. He has several different sequences of tunes which he varies just to keep one interested. Maybe there are 10 or 15, not sure. His underbelly is white and his beak is fairly long. I think his wings are black, but not sure. I am not a "birder" but I love this bird. He is a treasure. Anyone know what it is??

Mockingbird? This time of year when the weather is nice they sing from dawn until dusk. They truly are a pleasure to watch and listen to. Here there is a great video of a male singing.

Or maybe a Magpie? They do sing a lot - but just dont find yourself around one of their nests! They are QUITE protective, even when it comes to humans....

We had one of those little crooners outside our window at 1 a.m to 3 a.m singing away. Sheesh. They are cute but not in the wee hours of the morning.

They'll copy sounds they hear.

Which includes the sound of car alarms.

We have talking parrots in the house. One mimicks the mockingbirds singing, when he hears them outside. (It's gotten to the point I'm not sure who is mimicking who!) I love listening to them.

We have a mockingbird that follows my cat around mimicking him coughing. My cat has a chronic cough from allergies and he is old. He sits on the patio and so does the mockingbird. They cough back and forth. I told my cat it's Karma. lol
