I received a job teaching in (it looks like) downtown Phoenix but it sounds like that is not where I want to live. I am 27 years old, no kids, no pets and would like to live in a place that is safe. I would preferably love an area that is walking distance to shops and such but if that isn't available in this area, thats okay. I am coming in from Pittsburgh.
I am looking for an apt that is furnished and under 700 a month.

Can anyone help me out in giving me good locations to look?

Thank you!

The furnished requirement is going to make this very tough. They are rare. Seriously consider getting unfurnished then buying cheap, new matress and furniture off CL.

Agree with this. Your selection of apartments in good areas will be MUCH broader if you do it this way. You might find something in midtown Phoenix that is close to a grocery store and some other shops (look along 7th St or 7th Ave, for instance) The commute would not be bad from there.

Yelp is a great source for your search. Forest Park Apartments gets great reviews located at 3800 N 6th, with studios starting at $599. Coulter Park looks nice at 909 W Coulter. You might get lucky and find someone that is moving out and wants to leave furnishings when you are coming in, I'd ask the rental office. Good Luck!

Everyone seems to have their own definition of "downtown". Where are you going to be teaching?
