Anybody know where to buy block ice in Phoenix? I'm in the downtown area and the closer the better.

I've recently purchased several blocks of ice from Circle K and 7th Ave, though I suspect they sell it at all convenient stores in the area. There is a Circle K on 7th Street and Roosevelt, and might even be one closer depending on where you are.

I have found it at the stores that sell water and ice (they are not all called "Water and Ice", that's a chain, there are others.

Just out of curiosity, what do you do with blocks of ice?

I know you didnt ask me directly, but theyre great for cooling off pools. Our HOA has been known to buy big blocks and dump em in the pool, because the pool water was 94 degrees.

...also, construction workers/landscapers/contractors use them in their 5 and 10 gallon water coolers because blocks don't melt as fast as a bag of cubes.

I didn't think ice in the pool was effective. It would be fun to try though. Now that the nighttime lows have been down, my aerator has been really effective in keeping the temp down. I jumped in yesterday and it was actually refreshing.

They don't all sell them, as the poster noted upthread.
