I would just wait and let it run off, unless you have some small animals in your backyard (rabbits, or chickens), in which case you could scare it off.

If it is really causing you much concern I would call animal control before the fire department.

Good luck.

If it's not acting aggressive, it's not likely rabid. You might also call Liberty Wildlife for assistance.

Just go on your patio a bang a couple of pans together a few times. He is much more afraid of you then you are of him.
I have one that hangs around my place in Heber. We see him from time to time. Very interesting creature.

first thing I'd do is get a camera and take a picture!

does he have a way to actually escape?....like a way thru a fence or a way over a wall?....how did he get in?.....will he be trouble for the next person or is there desert nearby?

Awwww cute little fella...I've always loved foxes. You were lucky to get a photo because every time I've sighted a fox it's run away before I could get my camera!

Here's some interesting info from the humane society on the grey fox:

Foxes: The Red and the Gray | The Humane Society of the United States (http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/a_closer_look_at_wildlife/foxes_the_red_and_the_gray.html - broken link)

Why get rid of it? I'd say you got yourself a new pet.
