I know the eight 8-oz glasses recommendation is woefully inadequate for our clime.

But I've been reading conflicting reports about what is ideal. Additionally, everyone warns "if you get thirsty, its too late!"

I was wondering about how much water the good people of this forum were consuming...

I've never kept track of the amount. I usually go by if I'm peeing clear and frequently then I'm properly hydrated.

I drink several diet sodas a day and a lot of coffee in the morning. I rarely, if ever, have straight water. I'm drinking a bloody mary right now.

For me it changes by season. In the summer I would say that I tend to drink about two gallons of water a day. I don't drink soda, juice, or coffee, so water is the main go-to. I will occasionally have unsweetened iced tea, but most days it's strictly cold water with a squeezed lemon.

It's been nice knowing you!

I drink 4-5 Costco liter bottles a day. I work out most days and always tend to have a bottle on me.

I have a 32 oz bottle that I usually go through by the end of my 6:30 am jog. I typically fill that up at least 3-4 times a day, more if I'm doing something outdoors or working out. I don't drink soda but occasionally a little Gatorade, especially if I'm boozing that day

Wow! thats interesting that people are all over the map and everyone is still alive! I drink 2 gallons of just water a day. But it wakes me up a couple of times a night.

I should make this into a poll if I can figure out how

Most people here live 99% of the time in air conditioned spaces and don't need more water than they would anywhere else. But, if you do even the slightest thing outside, even just sitting out on the patio at night the water requirement can really jump fast. Thing is, too, you don't sweat much unless you are actively engaged in something so it comes as a bit of a surprise when you pee brown and have an unquenchable thirst a couple hours later.
