Hi there! We're relocating from NY to Phoenix and very excited, but I need your help. We're coming out next week to look at apartments. I will be working near the intersection of I-17 and 101. Since I am legally blind and don't drive, I'd like to find something on a bus route or maybe within a 20 minute cab ride.

So my apartment range is $850 - $950...maybe $1,000 at most. I have looked in the neighborhood of Paradise Valley and found a few potentials. Also looked at the Cobblestones near I-17.

I need recommendations of other SAFE neighborhoods to look in which are relatively close to my job and in my price range. It seems with Phoenix it's so hit and miss with bad neighborhoods so I'm a little scared. I need the help of you veterans out there.

Can you send me some good recommendations to check out? Thanks a million!

Laura

Hi, I feel weird about giving the exact location but it is really close to the I-17 and 101 intersection. So you can use that. Thanks a lot for your help,

I ask because 28th ST is about 8-10 miles from 101/I-17, and depending where the office is, you may not have nearby bus service. If I were you, I'd look at bus routes that go by your office, then look for apartments on the route that goes by your office, or routes that connect with whatever route goes by your office.

In Arizona we have apartment locators that are paid by the apartment complexes to match up tenants with available apartments and all fees are paid by the apartment management companies, They have lists of all the financial requirements, credit scores, pet requirements, past criminal convictions that apartments will accept and can save you a bundle in application fees.
I used to work as an apartment locator, it is a legit business that requires a realtor license.

If you want a private condo use Craigslist and if you get lucky be prepared to jump on anything that is good because it will not last.

If the past month is anything to go by, you'll have better luck finding private rentals on hotpads.com or realtor.com. There are a few on craigslist but the other two sites have more.
