We've narrowed our search to this area, and are trying to be moved out by mid-October. Looking for any insights, ideas, info, etc. Our son is 17 with autism, we just attended the AZ Assist West Valley meeting a couple of weeks ago. We're planning on attending the East Valley Transition Expo on September 17th.

A big question we're looking at is Chandler vs. Gilbert school districts, and whether either provides a significant advantage for transition services. We've got some info about Voc Rehab, DDD, etc.

Any other random thoughts or things we may not have considered would be appreciated as well!

One question, high functioning, Aspergers or ???? When it comes time for College, ASU West Campus has a pretty good program for those with Autism. The upside to West is that it is quieter so less distraction, less chances of issues as well. Our son got his own double dorm room but only paid for a single due to his disability.

Definitely not Aspergers :-D There are lots of things he can do, and lots he can't. Will definitely need a lot of hands-on.

Yes, I've heard that. Unless some issues resolve with age/maturity, he'll most likely be more of an online class guy. In high school, he did do some mainstream classes, but always with a 1-to-1 aide.
