I would take this more as Sprouts being purchased by Albertsons, but I suppose that's semantics. I've been a Sprouts customer for probably 20 years now, starting at their very first store at Ray and Dobson in Chandler, so I would not be happy to see quality lapse. I've never been impressed with the deli or meat departments at Albertsons or Safeway so I'm hoping they would continue with the same quality and not cheapen it. Another thing I don't want is for the Phoenix area to lose another corporate headquarters, but as a recent shareholder of SFM, I suppose it could end up OK for me

Albertsons in early discussions for Sprouts merger

I love Sprouts. I went to Albertsons once and that was enough. The store was dated and dirty. I hope this doesn't have a negative impact on Sprouts.

The Albertsons store close to us is closing. I never liked Albertsons and did not shop there. Don't like the Safeway stores either. If they buy Sprout's they better don't make them look the same way they are or they will lose me as a customer.

Good thing Natural Grocers moved into a few of the vacated Fresh & Easy locations.

I hope it works for the best, but usually the more dominant company calls the shots, and I was never impressed with Albertsons.

Ack, I wish if it were to happen, Sprouts would be doing the acquiring. Sprouts is by far my favorite produce store and afraid if this goes through what will happen to the entire experience/product.

So given Albertson's and Safeway are owned by the same parent, and now maybe Sprouts will join the club....not good for competition in the valley. That potentially leaves a Fry's vs Alberton's-Safeway-Sprouts deal. Given the article says this is just in an early stage, I hope it fails as I see nothing positive coming from this from a customer standpoint.

That's bad news imo, I'm a big fan of sprouts but can't stand Albertsons. Bummer

You left out Bashas, still locally owned. We also have a growing number of great farmers markets.

There would still be Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Natural Grocers, Winco and I'm sure others I'm missing.
