I have to tell you something. It was a requirement for me when we bought this home and we hardly ever ever jump in the pool. I can jump in it at any time if I want to, maybe just knowing I can is enough but now that I have it, we hardly use it. Take a lot of water and maintanence to keep up. We love it and I should use it. When I have used it I got carried away w/ the sun and was told take it easy by my Dr.'s but it is okay if you don't have one. Most people have a pool on my street and with the exception of the family across the way w/ children, I rarely see anyone use their pools. I don'y really know why or how often people really use their pools but we hardly use ours.

I agree with most of the comments here. If I go out for a necessary reason during midday I cuss then just accept it.

I have a pool but I know a lot of people who don't use their pools. A swimming pool is an extra responsibility and for many people, they don't want it. You can still set up a misting system in your patio which can alleviate the high temperatures and allow you to enjoy the outdoors at night.

But I hear ya, I still think you should get a pool. I sold two houses here and having a pool in them made them sell quickly because so many homes have pools here that when it came time to sell, it was almost a prerequisite for most people so get a pool if you can.

I was just answering your question because I thought you were wondering how do people deal with the heat and enjoy the summers if they don't have a pool. If you set up a misting system, you can still play cards and drink beer on your patio at night with your friends and you won't notice the heat.

our friends have pools and we just go over there - they do get warm in the summer, but it's never stopped us from enjoying it - to me it basically provides something to do outside when it's really hot - entertainment more than anything - sunblock is a friend though

don't know if it would provide "relief or refreshment" from the summer heat for me though

i know in the summers I love going to the early showing at AMC for $5 and watching the summer blockbusters in comfy AC

You find other hobbies.

There are other things to do besides going swimming.

i'm not a big golfer - but I have gone out in the summer - i believe the last time I went it was 108

a lot of sunblock again and waters stuffed in the bag instead of beer

played all 18 at a really nice course (nicer than my skill set should allow) for a real reasonable price

got out there early and finished up before the peak heat of the day -was still really warm though - drank more water when I got home and took a nap until dinner

wasn't too bad - but nothing I would run off to do either
