Hello everyone,

I moved to Phoenix about six months ago and while I love it here, I have noticed one fairly odd thing about TV here. It might just be my cable service (Cox) but because Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving time the time slots for cable networks are completely messed up.

I came from Kansas City in Central Time and was used to always subtracting an hour from advertised TV times. If something said 8:00, I would automatically know that meant 7:00. Here, once we moved from Pacific to Mountain Time in November our cable networks stayed on Pacific time, meaning our shows are now extra late. If an advertisement says 10:00 I know to assume it means 11:00. This is normally not anything to be upset about until 11:00 comes around and anything I was used to watching back home at that time would not be on until 1:00 AM.

Any other people new to Phoenix annoyed at this?

If it's still the way it was at one point (and I really don't pay attention, I just know when what I want to watch is on, or use the TiVo), for some things we are getting an east coast feed, and others a west coast.

We found it annoying at first but have now adjusted. Hate to tell you, but some programs change again when everyone else goes on daylight savings time.

An easy way to look at it is this. In spring and summer, Arizona is on Pacific time. In fall and winter Arizona is on Mountain time.

Look at it this way, our clocks keep perfect time your round, everyone else have defective clocks that require then to be reset twice a year.

Oh, we happen to like it that way, if you don't, you know the way out of Arizona
